Town of Phelps 

The Town of Phelps is accepting applications for employment for a full-time Certified Diesel Mechanic. The Highway Certified Mechanic position is responsible for the construction and repair, overhauls and maintenance of all light and heavy duty related equipment contained in the Town of Phelps Highway, Fire, Ambulance, Park and Cemetery Departments. This position performs skilled work in creating, fitting and assembling and disassembling of machines and equipment; keeps shop equipment in working order; performs snowplowing and various highway improvement/repair work as needed. All work and duties are performed under the supervision of the working Highway Foreman. Because of the nature of this position you will be required to reside within a 30-mile radius of Phelps within one year of employment. Qualified candidate must possess the following: High School Graduate with a 2 Year College Degree in Diesel Mechanics. Up to one year of mechanical experience with light and heavy duty equipment. Experience in welding and metal fabrication is desirable. Possess a valid Class B Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License upon hire with attainment of a Class A license with H, N and Air Brake Endorsements within 6 months of hire date. An applicant’s driving record for the 5 years prior to date of hire will be reviewed. Compensation & Benefits: the pay range is from $18 to $22.50 depending on qualifications and job experience. The State of Wisconsin Ethics Commission is seeking to hire a fulltime Administrator. The Administrator is the chief executive officer and chief of staff for the Ethics Commission and serves at the pleasure of the Commission.
