Town of La Pointe -  JOB ANNOUNCEMENT - Town Foreman

The Town of La Pointe is looking for qualified candidates for the position of Town Foreman to supervise the Roads and Parks departments and staff.  The Town Foreman works with the Town Board and Town Administrator to prepare preliminary proposals and plans for various projects and supervises staff assigned to the Road Department and Parks Department.  He or she oversees Town road and building construction and maintenance, maintains accurate and current record of accounts, submits monthly reports and develops and administers the yearly departments’ budgets and the Town’s Capital Improvement Plan.  

This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week with benefits package.  Work schedule may require evenings/weekends/holidays as needed.  Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.  The job opening closes at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017.

The Town of La Pointe is located on Madeline Island, the only inhabited island of the Apostle Islands. These islands are located at the western end of Lake Superior, and Madeline Island is a 20-minute ferry boat or windsled ride from Bayfield, Wisconsin.  The Town has a year-round population of 265 but swells to 3,000 during the summer months.

Required: An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience which provides the knowledge, ability and skill necessary to perform the job satisfactorily, skill in operation of department equipment and tools and the ability to supervise and train work of others on such equipment and tools, possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License and a Commercial Driver’s License Class ABCD, knowledge and experience in construction, maintenance and repair, and general mechanics, ability to communicate effectively, ability to use PC and appropriate software, write letters, maintain databases and work with the PASER system.

Preferred: Experience in supervision in a government and/or a construction setting, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and demonstrated customer service skills.

Town of Vienna Road Patrolman Position 

The Town of Vienna, Dane County is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Road Patrolman. The qualifications include having a valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver’s License (or the ability to obtain one) a high school diploma or GED and three years of relevant experience. Applicant must have a 15 minute response time for on call purposes.  

Responsibilities include maintaining town roads, culverts, parks, buildings, grounds, vehicles, equipment, snow plowing and salting roads. The Town of Vienna has two Sanitary Utility Districts, each with its own lift station. This requires on call rotation during the week and on weekends as scheduled by the Supervisor.

Benefits include health insurance and participation in the Wisconsin Retirement System. Starting hourly wage will be $17-$20, depending on qualifications and experience. This position is subject to a pre-employment drug test and future random testing in compliance with the Department of Transportation and Highway Administration.

REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL GARBAGE/RECYCLING SERVICES-TOWN OF VIENNA

The Town of Vienna, Dane County, is seeking proposals for Garbage/Recycling Collection for a five year contract beginning January 1, 2018.  Please submit all proposals marked “Garbage/Recycling Proposal” to:  Kathleen Clark Clerk, Town of Vienna, 7161 County Road I, DeForest, WI 53532.  All proposals must be received by 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 7, 2017 to be opened at the September 18, 2017 Town Board meeting.

Description of Town of Vienna

The Town of Vienna is located in Dane County.  The Department of Administration 2016 estimate of population for the entire Town is 1,532 with approximately 461 residential sites.

Current Contract

The garbage collection is done bi-weekly by Town section.  The east side is collected one week with the west side being collected the opposite week.  Garbage and recyclables are collected every collection day.  Included in the collection is general household trash and refuse.  Currently the Town collection day is Tuesday.  Christmas tree pick up 3rd week of January and 3rd week of March.

Award of Contract

The Town will consider a number of factors when deciding which Contractor will be awarded the contract.  While price will be the main factor, the Town will not compromise quality of work, variety of services provided, professionalism or ethical considerations when making its decision which applicant is awarded the contract.  The Town reserves the right to make the decision which applicant is awarded the contract and said decision may be based on any factors the Town chooses.

Rejection:  Waivers

The Town reserves the right to reject any and all proposals, waive formalities, technical deficiencies and irregularities, or otherwise solicit new proposals if some other manner of negotiation better serves its interests.

Competency of Contractors

The opening and reading or posting of proposals shall not be construed as acceptance by the Town of the Contractors as being qualified, responsible candidates.  The Town reserves the right to independently determine the competence, financial and operational capacity of any Contractor.  All Contractors shall cooperate with the Town in its attempts to determine competency.

Indemnification and Insurance

The Contractor shall be required to indemnify and hold harmless the Town, and its officers from and against all liability, claims and demands, on account of any injury, loss, or damage, or any portion thereof, is caused by, or claimed to cause by, the act, omission, or fault of the Contractor or any subcontractor of the Contractor, or any officer, employee, or agent of the Contractor or subcontractor, or any other person for whom the contractor is responsible.

The Contractor or subcontractor of the Contractor shall be required to carry at their own expense worker’s compensation insurance, comprehensive general liability used in performance of the contract.

Compliance with laws

The contractor shall be responsible at its expense for obtaining and complying with all necessary permits, ordinances and laws.

Requirements for the RFP submissions

The Town of Vienna is requiring all RFP submissions to contain:

1.     Contractor’s definition of garbage and cost for collection.  Provide the cost for weekly and bi-weekly garbage collection for comparison costs.

2.     Define and list costs for other household/residential garbage collection.

3.     Provide a listing of allowable recyclables to be collected

4.     List any other services provided and the cost involved.

Request for Qualifications Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan Town of Rome, WI

The Town of Rome is seeking proposals to develop a Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan (CORP) for our community.  The Town has several significant recreational assets it either owns itself (a multipurpose room, ball field, dog park, new splash pad park, nature center, Dyracuse Recreation Park) or has located in the Town owned by others (Tri-Norse, Sand Valley Golf Resort, Arrowhead Golf Course, Wisconsin Trap Shooters Home Grounds Range, Adams County boat launches, parks and ATV trails).  While most activities are outdoor activities, the one community room has a constant stream of use.

Add to all this we are developing additional hiking and biking opportunities, both private and public. Last, but certainly not least, we have access to four different lakes and thousands of acres of MFL land. The Town is also home to a number of smaller, private subdivision owned recreation facilities.
