Every legislative session, the Town Advocacy Council (TAC) hosts listening sessions with town leaders to gather ideas for pursuing legislation.  The TAC executive committee uses the information gathered at these listening sessions to create a recommended list of priorities for the lobbying team.  We need your ideas to formulate our legislative priorities!

In the last few legislative sessions, the TAC has influenced adoption of over 100 pieces of legislation and leveraged over $1.2 billion in efficiencies and additional funding based on the ideas shared at these listening sessions!  Recent legislative priorities have included:

  • Transportation
  • Shared Revenue
  • Volunteer Fire/EMS
  • PILT
  • County Zoning Opt-Out

You can read a description of the 2025-26 initial legislative priorities on the WTA website.

This year, the TAC will hold an in-person listening session hosted by the Washburn County Unit.  Any town official from any county is welcome to attend.

The in-person TAC listening session in your area will be held at the following time and location:
  • July 22nd at 6:00 pm hosted by the Washburn County Unit – Washburn County Services Center – County Board Room, 304 2nd St, Shell Lake, WI 54871
