The federal Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) was signed on November 15, 2021.  It reauthorizes surface transportation funding through federal fiscal year 2026 and significantly increases infrastructure funding, including for WisDOT’s Local Programs (federal).  Towns will primarily benefit from increased funding for the Local Bridge Program and the Surface Transportation Program – Local, although several towns will be eligible for other programs.  The latter is a new program that, for the first time ever, provides federal funding for roads functionally classed as minor collectors and local in adjusted census blocks under 50,000 in population.
